Mind the Gap! Addressing the sustainability skills gap.
The engineering sector is facing a major skills crisis, with a recent survey finding that 93% of UK engineering companies with a sustainability strategy do not have staff with the skills to fulfil it (1).

As the world faces ever-changing and increasingly urgent challenges, the question must be asked: how can we equip the engineers of today and tomorrow to meet the needs of all people within the means of the planet?

Join us on Thursday 24 November at 13:00-13:45 (GMT) for a lively discussion focussed on the changes we need to see in education and industry to address the skills gap and challenges underpinning this, and ensure engineers can make a meaningful input to combat the climate crisis.

Speakers:
- Catriona Schmolke, Trustee and Vice President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Visiting Professor of Sustainability, Risk and Resilience at Newcastle University, & CEO and Founder of CharlieFive
- Lynsey Clarke, Global Senior Director of Sustainability at Jacobs
- Dr Goudarz Poursharif, Associate Dean-Education for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Aston University
- Toni McLaughlin, MEng Aeronautical Engineering student and EWB Glasgow President

The session will be facilitated by Dr Jonathan Truslove, Education and Skills Lead at Engineers Without Borders UK.
